Mixed Media Sculptural Collage. 2013. Materials include found wood, alkaloid paint, household paint, paper, printed photography, wool, felt, nails, leaves, dirt & sand.
Angles create lines and in these lines the eye can keep on reading a wordless narrative, one which extends beyond language.
The process of building is both instinctive and logical. Paint is applied using card, my hand or another object- allowing for new texture and new order to be found. Most of the material used remains as found. I seek to involve transparency as I make. Some areas remain concealed, other areas exposed. Sections intersect and collide. I embrace stability and desire it, yet I simultaneously seek out chaos. Each piece contains irregular shapes and material, but in its formation a symbiosis is found that brings a precarious yet harmonious balance, similar to that which we see in life, and nature.
Pieces from the Constructs series wall mounted at Lawrence Alloway Gallery in 2013.
